Florida DOT Announces M-CORES Task Forces Membership List
The Florida DOT recently announced the membership for the three M-CORES Task Forces. Per Florida statute the Secretary of the Florida DOT had to appoint members by August 1, 2019. Each Task Force must contain a member from the following organizations:
- Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)
- Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO)
- Department of Education (DOE)
- Department of Health (DOH)
- Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC)
- Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DACS)
- Local Water Management Districts
- Local Government Official from Each Local Government within a Proposed Corridor (FDOT interpreted this to mean one county level representative)
- Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs)
- Regional Planning Councils (RPCs)
- Community Member (determined by FDOT)
- Appropriate Environmental Groups
FDOT added in the following Florida governmental organizations not listed in statute to each Task Force:
- Florida Public Service Commission
- Enterprise Florida
- Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation
- CareerSource Florida
FDOT added in the following community members to each Task Force:
- Florida Chamber Foundation
- Florida Trucking Association
- Florida Rural Water Association
- Florida Internet & Television Association
- Volunteer Florida
- Florida Economic Development Council
- Florida Farm Bureau Federation
- Relevant Colleges/Universities
Of Note:
- The Southwest-Central Florida Corridor Task Force has one specific person listed as a Community Member, Matt Caldwell. He is a former Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing District 79, from 2010 to 2018. In 2018 he ran to be the Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services but lost.
- The Sierra Club is mentioned directly in statute as a suggested environmental group to include in the Task Forces but it not listed as a member of any one of them. The other environmental groups listed in statute are part of all three Task Forces.
